I Hope You Dance

Lucy and Abby dancing in the kitchen

Inspired by this photo, today I'm just posting some lyrics that say it better than I ever could.  Here's to all of my little cousins...

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty-handed

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance ... I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances but they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth making

Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

Dance...I hope you dance...

Paper Roses...Paper Roses

Oh How Real Those Roses Seem to Me

A few Januarys ago I hosted a "tropical" weekend with my girlfriends.

In searching for a way to decorate I thought of big, bright tissue paper flowers that my sister and I made when we were kids.  I decided to make tons of them and then put them everywhere.  To me it was more fun than decorating for Christmas.

They warmed and brightened my place up despite the very dreary, cold winter weather...so much so that I left some of them out for awhile after that weekend came and went.

Given the weather we've been having lately I'm tempted to make some more...

Doggone COLD out there!

This lime green snowsuit is perfect to bring out Lucy's red highlights.
I just wish it would help to bring her outside.

Ready, Set...Sit! (or not)

Just a few photos to show what it's like
to get Lucy ready for an outing in the winter.
The last one demonstrates what *usually* happens
when she's asked to "sit".
(She was so good for the first photo...but apparently that
was her limit for the day)

That's my girl!

My First Blog Entry?

I did this many moons ago while sitting at my desk as a summer student for a major publishing company.  (I am quite certain that they would have appreciated for me to be doing something a tad more productive.)

Silly as it is, I'm thinking maybe I could turn it into a children's book...

TGIF

Just a little smile in honour of the first Friday of 2011

Lucy is in her waterproof, reflective rain gear with - yes, that's right - matching blue longjohns.

Old School

Today's post is a throwback once again: some illustrations from a book assignment in my college days.

A Wee Bee Doodle

I looked up the meaning of my first name one day and found something online that told me it was "Queen Bee", so I did a little doodle of what I figured I'd look like if I were, indeed, a queen bee.

As you can see here, I imagined I'd still have a thing for accessories...
